Not gonna lie-- I learned a few things writing it. One of the misconceptions someone gave me growing up, was that the name Uvalde had something to do with the Spanish word for grapes. Can't believe everything you hear, I reckon.
Edited to correct: John Nance Garner was a mentor to Lyndon Baines Johnson, but served as Vice President under Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
Also updated and edited to reflect a recount being called for in the primary race between Henry Cuellar and Jessica Cisneros.
